Better late than never right? I’ve been pretty busy since coming back from Peru. I meant to get a letter out sooner but here we are. About a week ago we set off from Virginia to drive the furthest west I’ve ever driven. I wouldn’t call this a huge road trip. Our main goal was to get to Phoenix in Arizona by Saturday.

We woke up early in the morning on Tuesday and drove straight to Nashville. I have done this drive a few times back in the day. It felt a lot better this go around but I attribute that to Kelsey’s new car!

Angelica is Kelsey’s friend who is one of two friends she is taking a nursing assignment with. We stayed at her brother’s place in Nashville which was nice and had some good Nashville hot chicken!

Our goal the next day was to wake up even earlier and drive all the way to Austin. We would then stay for a couple of nights here. This drive was 2 hours longer than the first day but we were determined. We arrived in Austin around 7 pm and headed to one of my favorite places to get BBQ, Terry Blacks.

After a couple of nights there we headed to El Paso for 1 night before finishing our trip the following day to Phoenix. El Paso was very quiet and it’s sad to see what Covid has done to this once bustling town in Texas. But onward we went.

The final day seemed like it took longer than all others combined. It was probably because of the anticipation to meet up with one of my best friends Maggie! She is also taking an assignment here in Phoenix and we will be staying here for the next 3 months.

While in Arizona, I plan on doing a lot of outdoor activities in the nearby national parks. There is so much here that I will not be able to do it all in 3 months but you know I will try my best. Keep a lookout for posts on those!
