Many times during my travels, a jacket combined with a couple more layers didn’t cut it. I was freezing. The wind made it hard to move or for me to have the motivation to do much else but to find cover.

That’s where the Venustas Heated Jacket comes into play. I’m not the biggest fan of winter sports or going to ski resorts, but having this heated jacket while hiking and camping is a lifesaver.

My girlfriend and I have tested two different styles of jackets in different climates to try and find out if it’s worth the money.

In this article, I’ll go over all the details of the two jackets including the prices, battery life, and other important details. If you’re looking for an honest review before purchasing, this is the place.

Why Did I Choose the Venustas Heated Jacket?

I want to be as transparent as possible as I think it’s important to you, my readers. Over a year ago I wrote an article about different heated socks I liked.

Venustas was one of the brands I chose to review as they were fairly priced and had some good reviews. They found that article and asked if I’d test out a couple of their jackets.

Of course, I said yes! I had been looking at their products recently and wondered about the quality and how hot these Venustas heated jackets can get.

They kindly allowed me to get a jacket for myself and my girlfriend. The specific heated jackets we chose were:

My Honest Review of the Venustas Heated Jacket

I’m putting my full analysis at the top so you know right from the beginning how I feel about these jackets and if they are worth looking more into.

How Did I Test Both Jackets?

My girlfriend and I are both avid hikers as you can see from the content on this site. We tested the Venustas heated jackets on hikes like Rattlesnake Ledge Trail and during camping trips.

I wanted to test the jackets first without the battery turned on and also with it on. The conditions on Rattlesnake Ledge that day were extremely windy and in the mid-40s.

It was also raining some that day, which helped with testing the nylon material.

Pros

  • Machine washable
  • Long battery life
  • Water-resistant
  • Stylish
  • Made from high-quality materials like nylon & polyester
  • Multiple sizes
  • 3-1 Women’s jacket can be unzipped into just a fleece
  • Three different heat settings (low-medium-high)

Cons

  • Expensive ($150 – $200 USD)
  • The jackets take up a lot of space by themselves
  • 3-1 Women’s heated jacket is heavy
  • Carrying around extra weight in a battery
  • Might not be ideal in extreme weather

Is It Worth the Money?

You might look at the price tag of these Venustas heated jackets and think, “Do I really need this”. And this truthful answer is, that it depends.

These jackets are worth every penny if you live in colder climates or like to go to ski resorts. The quality is comparable to Arc’teryx and The North Face jackets.

I thought the heat might be unbearable but instead, the heat feels evenly distributed and the three heat settings are perfect for any condition.

The 3-1 Women’s heated jacket exceeded my expectations as well as my girlfriend’s. The customizing you can do is the cherry on top.

Would you like to detach the hood or just wear an inner layer? Well, you can!

The Venustas heated jackets are perfect when camping in below-freezing weather, too. Not needing to sit directly next to the fire to stay warm was nice for once.

I wish I had these jackets during my recent trips to Patagonia hiking the W-Trek and Fitz Roy!

I can see myself sitting in El Chalten with my heated jacket and not a care in the world.

What Does the Venustas Heated Jacket Offer?

The heated jackets by Venustas are everything they look like they’d be from the photos; great feel, and material, and they do their job.

We have tested both the men’s and women’s heated jackets in climates that warrant something to keep you warmer than just your normal jacket.

But what exactly do these jackets offer that others don’t?

Quality

You will not be disappointed in how these jackets feel when you put them on.

The Men’s Heated Fleece shell is made from 100% polyester and the lining is made with 100% nylon + 100% polyester. The polyester material helps make this jacket:

  • Lightweight
  • Breathable
  • Warm

It does this by wicking moisture away but also still keeping you insulated. This is also a popular material used by some hiking/running socks.

The nylon material helps make this jacket:

  • Blocks out strong winds
  • Water-resistant

Nylon is a strong and abrasion-resistant material that is nice to build things like a heated jacket.

Battery Life

The battery life was amazing and will last up to 6 hours or more if you’re like me. And what I mean by that is if you don’t need an extremely high heat.

My girlfriend cranked her heat up to the highest setting for longer than I did; ultimately, her battery died much quicker.

These jackets keep you warm even without the heat turning on. So, the battery will last a bit unless you’re in freezing weather.

Fit/Style

When our heated jackets arrived from Venustas, I was pleasantly surprised at how good they looked and felt. Especially my heated fleece.

The fleece is so well designed that I can see it being acceptable to wear at certain functions like Christmas parties. I might be doing that this Christmas!

For the 3-1 Women’s Venustas Jacket, comes with a detachable hood and can also be broken down into smaller layers if it gets too hot.

The 3-1 Women’s isn’t the same style as the fleece and it might not be party appropriate. With that being said, the style is slick and can probably be pulled off at different events.

We both love the minimalistic style of both jackets and it goes well with most attire!

Pockets

When deciding if these heated jackets are for you, take into consideration how cold your hands typically get during cold weather activities.

If you don’t particularly like to wear gloves when possible, then you’re in luck! Both of these Venustas jackets have heated pockets.

The fleece is softer on the inside than the Women’s 3-1 but you can feel the quality of material in both is of high standard.

As for other pockets, the Women’s 3-1 jacket has an extra pocket on the outside at the right chest. This pocket is good for small things like cards and cash.

Carrying Case

Both of these jackets take up some space when laid out or folded normally. I had a feeling that might be the case and that worried me about how well they would travel.

Luckily Venustas sends them in a carrying case that makes it easy to travel with!

The carrying case can fit easily in a backpack or suitcase like a packing cube. The zipper and bag material are durable and will be able to handle rough roads during travel.

Inner Layer

Too hot? You can unzip the outer shell with the 3-1 Women’s jacket. This leaves the inner layer which is a simple fleece with no hood.

This inner layer is where all of the heating elements are located. So there’s no worrying about getting cold!

The inner layer is made from polyester & the pocket inside on the left is where you’ll want to plug in the battery.

There is a small cord that comes out that you can plug the battery in and put it back in the pocket.

To change the heat settings, there’s a small V button on the inside of the inner layer. Here you can go from high (red), medium (white), and low (blue) heat.

Outer Layer

The outer layer or shell is how you will stay extra warm (and dry)! The hood itself isn’t detachable which means you’d have to stick with just the fleece if you don’t want it.

With that being said, the outer layer helps against the wind and is also water resistant!

This is especially important when in snowy climates and you want to stay as warm as possible.

Inside the outer layer, there’s another small pocket that you can use to hold things. It’s similar in size to the other one on the outside of the outer layer.

My Final Thoughts

The quality of the Venustas heated jackets makes this a solid purchase no matter the circumstances. The three settings the jacket has are perfect and I never felt uncomfortable wearing the jacket. If you don’t live somewhere that it’s cold a lot, then it might be a waste of a purchase. The 3-1 jacket is in my opinion the best option and worth the extra dollars. There’s a separate jacket & fleece plus there’s a hood if need be.

No matter which jacket you decide to pick, you won’t be disappointed.
